Top Reasons For Business Success

Billionaire Chris Kirubi’s Top Reasons For Business Success

Business Mogul, Chris Kirubi is a leading entrepreneur and investor in East Africa. Well, his entrepreneurship journey can best be described by ‘Success that comes gradually has a solid base.’ He first started in business by buying decayed properties in Nairobi, renovating the buildings, and then re-selling them for a profit. His property management company, International House Limited (IHL), owns and manages various residential and commercial buildings in Nairobi. Described by Forbes as one of top 40 richest people in Africa and top 20 most influential men in Africa, the Kenyan tech savvy businessman’s investments make most part of our life.  He controls, a number of East African companies, including: consumer goods firm Haco Tiger Brands, Centum Investments, UAP Insurance and the DHL franchise in Kenya. In addition, Kirubi owns popular Kenyan radio station Capital FM on which he is also a DJ.
In an interview series ‘Meet the Boss’ by How we made it in Africa Kirubi gave his thoughts on his the top reasons for success in business
1. What was your first job?
I worked for a company called Shell, which taught me a lot of discipline that has been useful in my life. I used to sell gas; I went round to people’s homes and fixed their gas. I earned little pennies every month; it couldn’t have bought you dinner.
2. Who has had the biggest impact on your career and why?

I get inspired by successful people such as Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. It makes me believe it is possible to be successful. I went to the same school as Bill Gates (Harvard University), although he did not finish university.
3. What parts of your job keep you awake at night?
What makes me wake up and stare at the ceiling at night is the fact that I am not growing as fast as I would like and my ambitions and dreams are not being fulfilled as they come. I wonder about whether I can get there and how many people I can uplift from poverty.
4. What are the top reasons why you have been successful in business?
Determination, focus, never giving up and believing in myself.
5. What are the best things about Kenya?
Kenya has got very bright young people. Kenya’s human resource is unequalled in Africa. I am sure, put together under proper leadership, which we are acquiring now, Kenya will achieve a lot.
6. And the worst?
Poverty. We have unacceptable poverty levels.
7. Your future career plans?
I would like to continue opening a new company every three months. Retiring is a story to tell another day.
8. How do you relax?
By working even harder.
9. What is your message to Africa’s young aspiring business people and entrepreneurs?
The youth should study hard and view themselves as job creators and not job hunters. They should be determined and stay focused.
10. How can Africa realise its full potential?
By focusing on educating our people, commercialising agriculture and opening up mineral resources. We should not allow our products to be commoditised and sold as raw materials. We should do the value addition ourselves.

SEEK GOD AND LIVE

Every day people from all walks of life look up and finding GOD. Many sacrifices are offered in self giving and materially just to find connection with GOD. Everyone presume they are in a better position with God pitying others and looking down on them. The seven billion people seek some power beyond and their quest and thirst unquenched. All the nations from the world over recognize that power but fail to capture. Through the ages Christianity has stood out as unique, yet easy to understand , follow and experience the power of GOD. In the Holy bible GOD reveals himself to man in simplicity but with power demonstration. The rule of the only GOD is broken down by many who bow to down to images and personalities. The Apostle Paul in the book of ACTS witnessed this scenario in a very peculiar way of life of the people of Athens;

Acts 17:22-23 source:  http://www.biblegateway.com

King James Version (KJV)
22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

An emphasis on

 Exodus 20
English Standard Version (ESV):source:  http://www.biblegateway.com

20 And God spoke all these words, saying,

“You shall have no other gods before[a] me.
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands[b] of those who love me and keep my commandments.

In conclusion seeing that all seek GOD we must realize that:
  1. GOD is not lost but we are. To lead us to him he gave his only son who is the way truth and life.
  2. God is the greater creator  therefore no creation can be equated to Him.
  3. God is smarter His ways are are higher than our ways, His thoughts higher than our thoughts.
  4. He is immortal but we live for a moment then we are no more no matter who we are; king or slave.
  5. God is love and loves us unconditionally if only we seek him diligently we shall find Him.
  6. He is a God who near and not afar off; proud of what he created near to you  than you think.
  7.

COMING OUT OF YOUR PAST

 COMING OUT OF YOUR PAST

We all have a story to tell, a past we have lived whether sweet or bitter.....In spite of all yesterday is gone, gone gone forever. We cannot change the past but we can make a difference and change history; shame to fame, bitterness to goodness, despair to hope.
Our past may be filled with things we don't want to forget. There are indelible marks in our bodies and soul, a constant reminder and an accusing horrible haunting voice, a witness encompassing our mind like a canopy covering! Shouting..........you  it did and you know it!!!...........you are guilty

Then love starts to fade away, for self and every one. Seems like every one knows it, wherever you go like one carrying a pregnancy. trying to run yet no where to hide and then deep inside you start singing in self consolation..........crying tears rolling downs cheeks without cheers.........singing..

Can no one see this smile I'm faking,
See how, inside, I'm constantly shaking?
These people all claim they know me well,
Yet no one can see through my crumbling shell?

"I'm fine", I whisper, my sadness unknown,
They leave me to deal with this anguish alone.
I've hidden behind this wall most of my life,
I've managed so far, I've dealt with my strife.

Watching as, slowly, my blood leaks away,
It helps to keep life's true horrors at bay.
I pull down my sleeve to cover my hurt,
For approaching footsteps, I'm on the alert.

I guess my pretense is just all too real,
No one has to know of the pain that I feel.
The real me inside, where no one can see,
I can fool everyone else, why can't I fool me?

PROVERBS 8: 30
36 But he who misses me or sins against me [WISDOM] wrongs and injures himself; all who hate me love and court death.

Need to accept it happened and the morning period is over. Look up! wash your face and apply lotion. Look yourself at the mirror rebuild yourself. remember GOD who holds your life in the palm of his hands. Forgive yourself and all others, then look up to GOD for forgiveness. Let the peace of GOD that surpasses all understanding preserve and keep you ..........You are a WINNER. Seek GOD and live

Lessons

  1.  Remember God, He watches over us even when the worst happens; by his mercies we are not consumed. HIS IS FOREVER FAITHFUL.
  2. We need to look to the better part of our experience even when it hurt most
  3. We make or break ourselves by the poor choices we make; choices have consequences.
  4. One cannot become a hero by riding in the storm; our past is the most severe storm we can sink into.
  5. Our doubts are our traitors, they make us loose the gain which we might often win by fearing to attempt.
  6. Stars shine brighter in the dark; don't be blindfolded by events, there's a reason you are alive.
The solar eclipse for a brief moment blocks the suns light....
but the sun is still shining!!!

WISDOM

Proverbs 8 (Amplified Bible)

Proverbs 8

Amplified Bible (AMP)
Does not skillful and godly Wisdom cry out, and understanding raise her voice [in contrast to the loose woman]?
On the top of the heights beside the way, where the paths meet, stands Wisdom [skillful and godly];
At the gates at the entrance of the town, at the coming in at the doors, she cries out:
To you, O men, I call, and my voice is directed to the sons of men.
O you simple and thoughtless ones, understand prudence; you [self-confident] fools, be of an understanding heart.
Hear, for I will speak excellent and princely things; and the opening of my lips shall be for right things.
For my mouth shall utter truth, and wrongdoing is detestable and loathsome to my lips.
All the words of my mouth are righteous (upright and in right standing with God); there is nothing contrary to truth or crooked in them.
They are all plain to him who understands [and opens his heart], and right to those who find knowledge [and live by it].
10 Receive my instruction in preference to [striving for] silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold,
11 For skillful and godly Wisdom is better than rubies or pearls, and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
12 I, Wisdom [from God], make prudence my dwelling, and I find out knowledge and discretion.
13 The reverent fear and worshipful awe of the Lord [includes] the hatred of evil; pride, arrogance, the evil way, and perverted and twisted speech I hate.
14 I have counsel and sound knowledge, I have understanding, I have might and power.
15 By me kings reign and rulers decree justice.
16 By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges and governors of the earth.
17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me early and diligently shall find me.
18 Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness (uprightness in every area and relation, and right standing with God).
19 My fruit is better than gold, yes, than refined gold, and my increase than choice silver.
20 I [Wisdom] walk in the way of righteousness (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation), in the midst of the paths of justice,
21 That I may cause those who love me to inherit [true] riches and that I may fill their treasuries.
22 The Lord formed and brought me [Wisdom] forth at the beginning of His way, before His acts of old.
23 I [Wisdom] was inaugurated and ordained from everlasting, from the beginning, before ever the earth existed.
24 When there were no deeps, I was brought forth, when there were no fountains laden with water.
25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth,
26 While as yet He had not made the land or the fields or the first of the dust of the earth.
27 When He prepared the heavens, I [Wisdom] was there; when He drew a circle upon the face of the deep and stretched out the firmament over it,
28 When He made firm the skies above, when He established the fountains of the deep,
29 When He gave to the sea its limit and His decree that the waters should not transgress [across the boundaries set by] His command, when He appointed the foundations of the earth—
30 Then I [Wisdom] was [a]beside Him as a master and director of the work; and I was daily His delight, rejoicing before Him always,
31 Rejoicing in His inhabited earth and delighting in the sons of men.
32 Now therefore listen to me, O you sons; for blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are those who keep my ways.
33 Hear instruction and be wise, and do not refuse or neglect it.
34 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
35 For whoever finds me [Wisdom] finds life and draws forth and obtains favor from the Lord.
36 But he who misses me or sins against me wrongs and injures himself; all who hate me love and court death.
